So Outdated It's Worthless

This book is horribly outdated and filled with generalities. It will NOT give you an understanding of school finance in CA or elsewhere. I kept wondering why the authors stated things like, "Today a major portion of a CBO's [chief business officer's] daily work is done on a computer." I then noticed that this book was originally written in 1992 and has just been repeatedly reprinted with newer publication dates. The book is a very thin 170 pages with each topic receiving a few sentences at best. I was completely stunned when one of the key words listed at the end of a chapter (Chapter 14 School Food Service Program) was "Burger King". I am not kidding. Burger King was mentioned ONCE in the chapter and has no consequence on school finance, yet some idiot thought this should be a key word for the entire chapter. In fact Del Taco was listed in the same sentence, "Some schools have turned to fast food and soda companies, like Del Taco and Burger King, for part of the daily meals." So why isn't Del Taco a key word by these horrible standards? If this book were current, it would have discussed the current CA law that banned soda products in schools. The book uses no specifics and provided me with no information to help me learn about School Finance in California. This book is insanely overpriced at $114 and must only be this price because the someone uses it as a course textbook (which is mortifying).The authors should be embarrassed this book is being sold at this price considering throughout the book it discusses things like Excel, "A school principal may request assistance from the business office for tools to ease the tasks of building and monitoring the budget. Many financial transactions can be monitored more quickly and easily with a personal computer. Some of these tasks include..." The book then goes on to give you a few pages explaining how to set up a worksheet in Excel and "The Advantages of Excel". Even in 1992 this book would have been so generic as to not provide me with solid information on school finance. Rather it speaks in generalities with no actual real world examples and cases. I am disgusted that Amazon, Kendall Hunt Publishing, and these authors can conscionably sell this book.

Disappointed

This books comes with a CD, but mine was missing. This should have been put in the description when selling the item. A little deceptive that it wasn't stated that the CD was missing.
